Research Priorities – Delphi Study

What is the aim of this project?

To identify the top 10 priorities for facial palsy research.

Who will be deciding the priorities?

Experts in facial palsy including people with facial palsy, their carers and health professionals involved in their care.

What is the process?

This will be done by a Delphi study which will seek to obtain consensus on the opinions of ‘experts’, through a series of structured questionnaires. As part of the process, the responses from each round are fed back in summarised form to the participants, who are then given an opportunity to respond again to the emerging data.

Who is organising and funding the research?

This research is being carried out by researchers at The Centre for Appearance Research, University of the West of England, Bristol. It is being funded by Facial Palsy UK. Facial Palsy UK has received part funding for this project from The Worshipful Company of Grocers, for which we are very grateful.

Why is this research needed?

The research will ensure a more focused and coordinated approach to guide future facial palsy research and help strengthen our research funding applications.
