You are invited to our Annual General Meeting 17 October 2015

Our next Annual General Meeting (AGM) is on Saturday 17 October from 12 midday to 2pm and will be in London. The room is available until 3pm so you are free to stay behind after and mingle with other guests.

What happens at our AGM?

We run through necessary business of the charity such as signing off minutes of the last meeting, receiving the Board of Trustees’ Report and Accounts for the last financial year and re-electing trustees. See the official agenda here.

We will also present a review of the financial year ending 30 June 2015 and discuss our plans for the future. A talk will be given about innovations in facial palsy rehabilitation and new projects taking place. One of our volunteers Alex Barker will explain about a campaign he embarked on this summer when he was refused service in a Cornish pub because his facial palsy was mistaken for drunkenness. There will be some special announcements and we will also announce winners of our Grand Prize Draw. Drinks and snacks will be served and there will be plenty of opportunity to meet others affected by facial palsy, children are welcome at this event.

How do I get tickets for the AGM?

Tickets are free but we do need to know numbers for catering so please register for your tickets here or alternatively phone or email us to let us know you are planning to come.

How do I get tickets for the Grand Prize Draw?

Lucky winners of the Grand Prize Draw will be announced at the event, the prizes are amazing and include tickets and hospitality for two to the Rugby Six Nations England v Wales game on 12 March 2016, a night in the Hilton on Park Lane, Liz Earle Hamper and more. For full details see here. Please note you cannot buy tickets on the day for the main Grand Prize Draw. If you are able to sell tickets to friends and family for us then please contact us. We are very grateful for any help you can give us with this.

Why do people come to the AGM?

Apart from learning more about the charity and topics relevant to those of us affected by facial palsy, people often like the opportunity to socialise with those with shared experiences. They make new friends and learn tips either from experts or each other about things that can help. It can be empowering meeting others and knowing you are not alone. For the management team at Facial Palsy UK it is an opportunity to say thank you to those who help us in so many different ways throughout the year, and time to celebrate what we have achieved. It is also an important opportunity to meet you in person and listen to your feedback about how we can improve. If you are thinking of coming alone and feeling apprehensive, please do let us know and we can arrange for a volunteer to greet you. We look forward to seeing you on the day!
