About the course providers

This online, modular course was developed by Catriona Neville and Sally Glover, two of the founding members of Facial Therapy Specialists International. They have been delivering initial and advanced courses on behalf of FTS-International for over 13 years.

The course modules are led by Catriona Neville. Catriona is an Extended Scope Practitioner Facial Physiotherapist working at The Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in the UK. She is also Chair of FTS-International.

About the course

The course covers the therapeutic management of facial palsy patients and is suitable for therapists with an interest in this field as well as any medical staff with an interest in the management of patients with facial paralysis.

On completion of the course modules you will have an understanding of:

  • The function of the face
  • Facial anatomy and control of movement
  • The physical and psychosocial impact of facial palsy
  • Causes of facial palsy
  • Assessment and recording of facial function
  • Treatment selection and management
  • When to refer complex patients for specialist MDT management

The course is hosted on a specialist medical training platform. Once given access to the course you will have two weeks to complete the modules, allowing you to complete them at a time and pace that suits you.
