Medical Advisory Board
Our Medical Advisory Board is made up of practitioners from a range of professions of relevance to facial palsy (ear, nose and throat surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, ophthalmology, neurology, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, psychology, maxillofacial surgery, medical research and more). The members of our Medical Advisory Board provide input regarding the content on the website and advice leaflets to ensure all our material is accurate and based on clinical practice. They also help promote this under-recognised condition to the wider medical community.

ImproveFP App
A mobile app that supports people with facial palsy in the journey to improve. The primary target audience is people in the early stages. The application is now available on iOS and Android. The core purpose of the app is to:
- Record progress – Prompt users to take regular assessments that allow them to track their progress through the weeks and stages of rehabilitation
- Monitor mental health – Encourage users to take a monthly assessment highlighting any needs for enhanced mental health support
- Step by step support – Guide users in daily relaxation and remind them not to overdo facial exercises
- Educate – Deliver tips, information and practice content relevant to their assessed stage of rehabilitation.
- Connect – Provide access to information about support groups & professional help
Training for Health Professionals
Are you a speech and language therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist or other health professional interested in the management of facial nerve palsy? Facial Therapy Specialists International (FTSI) provides specialist training for health professionals working with people affected by facial palsy. Courses are developed and delivered by experienced clinicians, the majority of whom also hold NHS roles, and are provided on a not-for-profit basis, ensuring training is grounded in clinical expertise and aligned with recognised standards of patient care.
