A warm welcome to all of the new members of Facial Palsy UK’s growing community, we are glad you found us. If you are newly diagnosed please make sure you look at the self-help videos on our website which have lots of useful information.
From the 1-7 March it is Facial Palsy Awareness Week. All of us at Facial Palsy UK look forward to this as it’s a great opportunity to raise awareness in whatever way we can.
With your help we have gathered survey information and case studies to distribute to the media and we are confident that we can generate interest from these.
This year we are launching an animation about the day in the life of someone with facial palsy. We will be sharing this on social media and our website. Please look out for it and share as much as possible. We are using the hashtag #FaceMyDay.
We are putting the finishing touches to our new Bell’s palsy patient guide which will launch during awareness week.
In addition we are planning a petition to the House of Commons to encourage greater awareness among all members of Parliament about the impact of facial palsy in the UK. We will need 100,000 signatures for it to be debated in parliament. We’ll email you once we have the link to the survey.
Like previous years, we have set up a Twibbon campaign where you can add a banner about awareness week to social media profiles.
Here are some simple ways to raise awareness:
- Put up a poster in your workplace, local café or library.
- Wear your Facial Palsy UK T-shirt or wristband.
- Follow our campaign and share the information.
- Take some leaflets to your GP surgery.
If you need any resources please get in touch. Thank you as always for your support.
