Volunteers wanted for Short Film on Facial Palsy!

A Journalism Studies undergrad at the University of Sheffield is seeking volunteers who are affected by Facial Palsy for a short film project.

Am I suitable for it?
If you’re happy to share personal stories and feelings about how the condition has affected you on camera, then you’ll be suitable. Volunteers should preferably be from the Yorkshire region or Manchester, but not limited to – as long as you’d like to share, your stories will be heard. Please note that no travelling will be involved for participants.

What’s involved?
It’ll mostly involve you talking about what it’s like living or having experienced Facial Palsy. Basically just you sharing only what you’d like to talk about on camera. You’d probably need to spend an hour or even less doing this interview, but filming will always be according to your availability.

What will the film be used for?
It will be submitted as part of a graduation portfolio to the university, and will not be publicly screened. However, Facial Palsy UK may consider publishing the film on its website to raise awareness for the charity and the condition.

What are the benefits of taking part?
You’ll be helping an aspiring Journalist/Documentary producer out. Most importantly, the film aims to give insights to the many issues surrounding this condition. The more people know about it, the more likely the charity is able to raise much-needed funds for research and treatment. These stories can also help other people affected by facial palsy realise that they are not alone.
