Support for children
Our main support groups cater for people over the age of 18, or 16 and over if accompanied by an appropriate adult. We don’t recommend bringing children to adult support group meetings because some of the discussions may be inappropriate, e.g. discussions about surgery may frighten a young child.
We are in the process of setting up Parent and Child Workshops to provide support and information to families with younger children affected by facial palsy. We also plan to put on some family days as soon as funds allow. We are very aware how urgent this need is and are working as fast as we can to set up additional services. In the meantime if you would like to be put in touch with other families please do get in touch, you can contact us by email to support@facialpalsy.org.uk or telephone us on 0300 030 9333.
Other support
We now also have an online support message board via the NHS approved system HealthUnlocked – https://healthunlocked.com/facialpalsyuk . Here you can post any questions you have in relation to facial palsy and share experiences with other members of the community. If you urgently need support or prefer to speak to us in confidence, please telephone on 0300 030 9333 or send an email to support@facialpalsy.org.uk .
We are currently trying to raise funds for two dedicated support coordinators to help set up more support groups and provide telephone, email and outreach support. If you can help with fundraising or would like to be a support volunteer please get in touch. We appreciate your support!
